Don't Let Tool's Name Deceive You

I think the biggest difference between Revit and Autocad is that most of tools in Revit has there objective components like walls, floors, stairs.... But anything can be drawn with lines in Autocad. Sometimes this difference makes work easier, but sometimes the opposite.

But we can take advantage of the tools in Revit more than their names, if we deeply understand how they work. I mean, why do we have to make roofs with Roof tool? Is there any reason not to make stair with Railing tool?


What are you doing Railing?




I'm tired to just follow stupid stairs. I can be a better one!!

Railing is one of the most useful tools when you want to push the boundaries.

You can download the families for Railroad here.



Railing can have two kinds of components; continuous rails and separated panels or posts. And it can follow a host.
If what ever I want to make has these concept, I always try with Railing first. And most of them work just like I expect.

Don't let tool's name deceive you.

    Hi! so great idea making it modificable. i'm working on a transport station for my final project (train, bus, subway...)
    I found this very useful, but i use Revit 2013, so i can't open your file. It's shown the messagge of an earlier version. Could you please attach it with an older version?
    Are you doing a station too? if yes, how is going on yours? :)

      Hi, actually, I created the families just for fun. I haven't had any train related projects at all....lol. And I created them in Revit 2014, so I can't give you for 2013 version. sorry..(and I don't use 2013 anymore)
      But I believe that it's not very difficult for you to make one. or just upgrade your Revit.
