Unfolding Curtain Walls for Documents

One of the advantages of using Revit is in making documents. Revit makes it easy for me to create plans, elevations, legends or schedules. But some of elements in Revit models are quite tricky to make it's documents.

Curtain Wall is one of them. It's harder especially when it has curved location line. In Autocad environments, I've naturally drawn a planar for it's documents, but in Revit, I had to use 3d views, assembly or other ways to explain it through documents.

I know there are several Dynamo solutions for unfolding. But I couldn't find a great one for creating construction documents from any of them. So, I created my own dyn for the job.

1. Approach

From a selected Curtain Wall , you can get Panels or Mullions.

Curved Curtain Wall

User question: How can I make glaze and mullion curved in curtain wall?

Actually, it's not very often to have an opportunity to use curved glass in real projects. It's quite expensive. But it is possible to make in real world, so it should be possible in Revit.

Making use of Curtain Wall

A user in Korean forum asked me how to make stud frame for drywall with Revit. I've never thought about it. I prefer make my model simple.

Isn't it look like mullions?

Make Curtain Wall Smart

Environmentally, I can't say curtain wall is the best option. My office has good looking wide curtain walls, but they made me like a turkey in the oven last summer. (Damn energy policy!!! :(  )

But it's still attractive when we design a building with large and simple shaped mass.

Revit provides pretty good feature to make curtain walls. But there are some inconveniences yet.
